FRIDAY IS THE DAY

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Thursday night the doctor will induce Melissa. I will be a dad on Thursday or Friday.

Ready

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

The changing table is finished and installed in the nursery. We packed the bag for both of us to take to the hospital when the time comes.

Whille at the local home improvement mega giant store to check price and availability of  an interior door we found the door we wanted in the markdown bin. It was a special order that was not the right item, ended up being $60 less and no waiting 14 days for the door to be shipped in. Score!

Baby’s Room

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

As of today, the baby’s room is completely ready for her to move in. Let’s take a tour of her camping/nature/outdoors theme room.

Note: the walls are a minty green, even if they look blue or yellow in these photos.

Here is her reading corner, with her father practicing rocking. The curtains were made by her Memere. Aren’t they great looking?

Her crib is a loaner from some friends. We found the vintage Smokey the Bear poster on EBay. On the other wall is one of the stainless steel art pieces. We are waiting for the dragonfly to arrive. The quilt at the end of the crib was also done by her Memere.

On the next wall is her changing table. We found this piece at the local unfinished wood furniture shop. A friend stained it and built some shelves inside for us. We plan to use this as a toy/game cabinet when there are no more diapers to change.

The baby already has a full closet. It may look like A LOT of clothes, but these are sizes 0 to 9 months. We hope that means six months of clothes, but aren’t too worried. Either the outfit was bought on sale, a gift from friends & family or hand-me downs.  Her onesies/body suits are in one of the changing table drawers. The closet curtain was made by her Memere and hanging inside is a really cool shoe rack also made by Memere.

And finally, her vintage Detroit News paper bag. Her Memere sewed in a liner and it now is a comfy home for her stuffed animals. Yes, that is a Snuffy in the bag.

Well, that is all in the Baby’s room. She can move in when ever she is ready, although we do have a smaller crib for her to stay in our room for a few weeks. But not for too long, she needs her own space and so will her Daddy and Mommy.

Almost There

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

We are almost ready for the apperance of our child. A few more small jobs and some cleaning and we will be set, or we think so. I have been able to check many things off of my todo list. Melissa is at the point of “get this thing out of me”.

I am looking forward to meeting my daughter and doing all the associated parent type stuff. I am also scared of parentood too. Friends have said if you think you are ready and not scared you are still not prepared.

Randomness

Monday, March 16th, 2009

This weekend I was a tree in the Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade, we were walking with The Greening of Detroit group.

Our unborn child’s books have overtaken the house.

My wife is losing the battle between our child and her belly button.

The nursery has been finished for months, just waiting on a piece of furniture to be finished.

More Shopping and under attack!

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Mgal and I hit some more sales last week! Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Baby Gap and Carters Outlet, holy cow what deals we recieved.

Mgal is also under constant attack from within by the baby. She has been very active recently and not letting Mgal forget she is there.  We are starting to see body parts pushing from the inside, a little unnerving in an Aliens way.

Target Clearence Pricing

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

While shopping with my wife earlier today I noticed some interesting sale pricing differences. Some items had drasticly different clearence prices than identical items. I am thinking they just have a random number generator set between a high and low price and it spits out price lables. I will not complain as long as I can find the least expensively priced item for my kid. If it means I am a bad parent for being a tightwad then sign me up!
