Notes from Away

Over the weekend, Bridget earned her winter camping merit badge.  To celebrate my 30^th birthday, Ted and I took Bridget on her first camping trip. We went to Muskollange Lake with is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on the shores of Lake Superior. The highest temperature we saw was about 65 – it was rainy and cold. One night Bridget and I even slept in the car as it was very windy.

Despite the cold, we had a good time exploring for future camping trips with a more mobile Bridget. One highlight was visiting Kitchi-iti-kpi Springs, which is a large fresh water spring. You ride a raft over the spring which features crystal clear water so you can see the spring bubbling the sand. Bridget enjoyed staring at her water reflection.

On another front, Bridget started daycare yesterday. Ted’s mother is still with us, so Bridget is going in the mornings for this week. According to the staff, Bridget is very happy and enjoys playing with the other kids. This morning, Bridget was playing in her car before we left and it seemed like she was trying to drive herself to daycare. She got very excited when we walked into the building – I think it is all the new toys she can play with. I am happy she enjoys daycare so far.

I will post photos soon. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. I’ve realized I’ll never be June Cleaver, but then again, June didn’t work out of the home. I am just striving to be a step above Rosanne. 

Bridget picked up her first car today - a preowned red convertible. It had low mileage and was in great shape so quite the deal. She is loving cruising in the car - very quickly she figured out how to turn the wheel to make noise and push the horn. It entertains all of us.

I swear officer I wasn’t speeding. Mom is gonna be mad if I get a ticket.

Bridget is also big into dancing, especially to ABBA.

We entered the Single Cab in our town’s car show this weekend. They usually get a couple hundred cars so we had no expectations of an award. We entered it more for the entertainment value than anything, but we did come home with a trophy. Our theory is that as a result of the pouring rain so few cars came that everyone received a trophy.  Oh well, a Judge’s Choice is a Judge’s Choice even if there was very little competition.

Bridget also picked up a Johnny Jump Up. She still a little small for it, but loves sitting and twirling. 

We also added some Christmas Lights to our cherry tree. It is a just a very cool look at night.
