Happenings

I admit I am already doing a poor job of this restart. Sorry. My only excuse is life gets in the way.

Between work and house stuff, we’ve been busy. It’s spring time so I’ve been busy planting and taking care of our gardens. We built a vegetable garden early this month and now it is planted and doing well.

Bridget had a birthday at the beginning of the month. We held it at Black Lotus and a lot of friends and family showed. It is hard to believe she is one! Then again, she has the personality and attitude to go with her age.

She’s now in the toddler room at daycare and thriving. Every day she comes home and acts just a little bit older. I am happy to see her so happy but wow, she’s growing up too fast.

Weekend

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

This weekend, we were blessed with perfect spring weather. Temperatures in the 60s and sunshine! After the gray, gloomy, stormy week we had, it has been a welcome change. Of course, this means we have worked morning to night on chores.

We started our Saturday by joining a tree planting by the Greening of Detroit. As a family, we planted one of 50 trees in the project. Ted helped plant another and with the watering, while I chased down a giggling, running Bridget.

We followed this up with the building of a raised vegetable garden in the backyard and ran some errands, like grocery shopping. Today, Ted is working to repair his VW truck and I started work on planting a blueberry bush, but Bridget has not cooperated. (Oh.. Ted just came in and is quitting for the day, so I am going out to keep working)

At dinner tonight, we’ll be entertaining some of Ted’s friends so the pot roast is cooking in the crock pot.

I am looking forward to this week at work, if only to finish a cup of coffee while it is still hot.

The return

It’s been a while, I know. I had actually been planning to abandon this blog as life is hectic. But here a few days before it would have ended, I am back and I plan to make every effort to post every few days. The fact of the matter is I think there is a need for blogs by working mothers.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve become increasingly frustrated by the “mom blogs” I do read, so I am going to write about my own experiences as a full time working mom, wife and person.
