Getting big
December 8th, 2009

The weather has been very interesting lately. One day we are freezing and scrapping frost and the next we are running around in t-shirts. This past weekend was one of those warm weekends so we took full advantage.
On Saturday, Bridget had her first playdate. We spent the afternoon with some friends of Ted’s and their newly adopted daughter. She turned one on Sunday so the age difference is only six months. The girls played pretty well together though there were moments of not sharing and some tears on Bridget’s side. They are still feeling each other out but I do think we have a friendship blooming.
Ted planned to attend the last VW campout of the year, but it was not to be. He made it about halfway before the Single Cab broke. I don’t understand what is broken but he says it is fixable. Bridget was beyond giddy to see Daddy when we got home from her playdate, so we are wondering about sabotage. Might explain that grease behind her ear.
Sunday, we decided to visit the zoo. It was Bridget’s first trip. With the exception of the butterflies and penguins, she seemed pretty bored. We just enjoyed the lovely weather and a chance to do something fun. Bridget was fascinated with the penguins swimming by her and then tried grabbing the butterflies as they fluttered around her. I think we will spend a lot of time visiting those two houses during future zoo visits.
I’ll post some photos later of her adventure.
And finally, she did have her six month appointment earlier in the week. Bridget is now 27 inches and 19 lbs. That puts her in the 95% for her age, but her BMI is in the 75%. That means she is growing well and at a healthy rate. It also means she is mostly wearing 12 months clothes.
Lobster Bridget - she doesn’t last long in this costume before she gets mad.

Baby Shrek has been a hit with the adults and kids. Bridget loves the simplicity of the costume - her own clothes and a warm hat. And yes, I’ve had requests for the hat.

All tuckered out after three trick or treat events. Being so cute is exhausting.

Quality isn’t the best due to the fact we took this using the camera on Ted’s phone. You get the point though.
Bridget is five and a half months old now. She is growing out of her nine month clothes and moving steadily into 12 months.
She also has spent the past two weeks working on crawling. Right now it is more of a propelling of herself but she can no longer be trusted on the floor. At all times, you must keep an eye on her or you are guaranteed not to find her where you left her.
Bridget is also sitting up very well. She enjoys sitting in a high chair at dinnner. I think she feels like a big kid.

And she had a visit from Uncle Jay!!!

These are a few weeks old, but I am hoping to get caught up a bit this weekend. As well, as finish Bridget’s Halloween costume, saree for Mollika’s wedding and another massive batch of baby food.

It has been one year and one day since Ted and I became Mr and Mrs. This time last year, we were driving back home. We like to say we honeymooned on the NY Thruway.
The past year has flown by, especially with the arrival of Bridget. I love our little family and wouldn’t change a thing from this past year.
Last night, we celebrated by getting a babysitter and going to dinner and movie. It is very odd to be the parent, not the babysitter! We’ve gotten lucky on the babysitter front as the dairy bar staff have all offered their services.
Here’s to many more years of Mr and Mrs, plus some kids.
We spent today at the apple orchard. We picked apples, climbed a hay mountain, visiting the petting zoo, enjoying cider and picking some super large pumpkins. Overall, everyone had a great day.
